PRIVACY POLICY
We are based at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW). The BBAW's privacy policy can be accessed here.
When you apply for a grant through the Endangered Languages Documentation Programme, we will collect information from you and your co-applicants. For example, name, contact details, home institution, home institution contact details, project details.
We use your personal data to manage your grant application, a funded project if applicable, to record the provenance of the documents in the Endangered Languages Archive if applicable, and to stay in touch with you about events and information relating to the work of the ELDP in which you might be interested.
We process this data on the basis that it is necessary to take steps to enter into or to fulfill a contract with you and your host institution, and where the processing is in the legitimate interests of the ELDP and the grantee to ensure that the grant and any outputs are managed effectively, and the ELDP and the grantee remain in contact for the exchange of news and information which is in the mutual interests of both parties.
If your application for a grant is unsuccessful, we will retain your personal data for 20 years.
If your application is successful, we will retain your personal data permanently to record the dispensation of grant funding in case of audits, and, where necessary, in line with your donation to ELAR, in order to effectively manage your grant and the archive. We will only share your personal data with your home institution, in order to manage your grant and for the purpose of fulfilling a contract between us. If your home institution is based outside the European Economic Area, we will transfer your data internationally where the transfer is necessary for the performance of a contract between ELDP and you.
You have the right to ask for a copy of your data. To make a Data Subject Access Request, please contact [email protected]. You may also ask us to correct or update your personal details, ask us to restrict the way we process your personal data, object to our processing (including unsubscribing from emails), and ask us to transfer your data to another IT environment on your behalf.
We will update this notice as necessary to reflect changes to the type of personal data that we process and/or the way in which it is processed. We will update you on any significant changes we make to this notice by email.

We reserve the right to change this privacy policy from time to time by changing it on the website.
INFORMATION COLLECTED
When you visit the website, we may automatically collect information about you, such as the type of internet browser or mobile device you use, any website from which you have come to the website and your IP address (the unique address which identifies your device on the internet) and operating system, which are automatically recognized by our web server. You cannot be identified from this information and it is only used to assist us in providing an effective service on the website and to collect broad demographic information for aggregate use.
